La chanson évoque la détresse des enfants qui, tout en restant fidèles à eux-mêmes, font face à un monde difficile. Elle parle de la réalité des enfants perdus, des rêves brisés et des conséquences de l'absence de protection et d'amour. À travers des métaphores, l'auteur décrit un univers où les enfants se retrouvent sans repères, illustrant la tristesse et l'errance qui les guettent. Dans un cadre urbain, les petites histoires de garçons qui ne prient pas ou qui s'éloignent de chez eux sont entrelacées avec des références à l'impuissance et aux échecs. Ces réflexions tristes révèlent la manière dont les innocents sont parfois abandonnés, tout en aspirant à quelque chose de meilleur. C'est un tableau dépeignant la lutte pour la survie et la quête d'une échappatoire, malgré les obstacles.
