La chanson évoque une tragédie qui se déroule sous un pont, où un homme, dans un état désespéré, se perd et s’en va. Le ciel apparaît serein, en décalage avec la mélancolie de la scène, tandis qu’il offre un dernier sourire avant de disparaître. Plus loin, deux personnages discutent de leur affection pour une figure féminine, entourés d’une ambiance paisible, comme si la mort et la vie coexistaient dans cet espace. Ils se souviennent des bougies qui s’éteignent, symbole de la fragilité des instants de vie, et d’une nouvelle perte flottant dans la rivière. Ce tableau dépeint la dualité entre l'espoir et le désespoir, faisant résonner les questions de l'amour et de la souffrance.
