La chanson raconte l'histoire d'un homme, Quick Joey, qui parvient à s'échapper d'une prison. Avec une balle et une chaîne aux chevilles, il se faufille à travers les murs, mais il est rapidement poursuivi par les chiens de chasse. Malgré sa situation précaire, il fait du stop sur la route, cherchant à échapper à la capture. Pendant ce temps, sa complice, Sweet Mary Jane, qui est assez rusée, lui aide en glissant un outil dans un gâteau pour l'aider dans sa fuite. À l'autre bout, le shérif, peu perceptif mais déterminé, se lance à leurs trousses, prêt à le rattraper. C'est un récit de fuite, de complicité et de la bataille éternelle entre le bien et le mal.
