La chanson évoque les luttes intérieures d'un homme qui porte un fardeau invisible depuis son enfance. Il raconte comment, malgré des débuts difficiles dans sa vie de cowboy au Nouveau-Mexique et les déceptions qu'il a dû affronter, il essaie de s'éloigner de ses démons. Bien qu'il ait cherché à fuir cette douleur à travers l'alcool et des substances, il a trouvé du réconfort dans la musique, un moyen d’exprimer sa souffrance. Finalement, il semble avoir trouvé un équilibre, aspirant à vivre une vie meilleure, loin des conseils nuisibles des autres, tout en gardant ses luttes secrètes, connues seulement de lui et de son amour.
