La chanson évoque la vie exceptionnelle de Christina, une femme ayant vécu au Moyen Âge, qui, après avoir été frappée par une crise à l'âge de vingt-deux ans, connaît une résurrection surprenante lors d'une messe. De là, elle devient une figure à la fois mystique et déroutante, cherchant à fuir la corruption humaine d'une manière spectaculaire. Christina se retire dans des lieux isolés, se contorsionnant ou s’élevant dans les airs, exprimant son rejet des péchés du monde qui l'entoure. Le contexte de son histoire se situe principalement à Liège, en Belgique, où elle a mis en avant son dédain pour les vices humains, en prenant des mesures extrêmes pour se purifier de ce qu'elle percevait comme une odeur insupportable de la dépravation. Sa vie devient une quête presque folles pour échapper à cette corruption, la menant à des comportements audacieux et désespérés jusqu'à sa mort dans un couvent.
