La chanson évoque un voyage intérieur et extérieur, où le protagoniste se lance à la recherche de quelque chose de précieux sur son chemin. Il se rend compte que tout son passé est dans un sac et qu'il est déterminé à avancer sans regarder en arrière, en quête de ce fameux chemin glorieux. C'est à une époque où beaucoup de gens cherchaient leur voie dans un contexte de grands changements sociaux et culturels. Le texte reflète un besoin d'évasion et de découverte, un motif commun dans les années 60, où l'idée de suivre ses rêves et de trouver sa place dans le monde prenait toute son ampleur.
