La chanson évoque la douleur de voir quelqu'un qu'on aime accorder son attention à une autre personne, souvent en dépit de sa propre valeur. L'interprète exprime son amour sincère, mais il est tiraillé par l'incertitude et la tristesse de sa situation. Au fond, il se demande quel rôle il joue dans cette relation, surtout quand il réalise que l'autre semble attiré par des comportements destructeurs.
