Cette chanson évoque la solitude et la désillusion d'un homme qui tente de joindre une personne absente. Il réalise que cette dernière se trouve probablement dans un bar, en train de noyer son chagrin dans l'alcool, luttant avec des pensées amères. Le narrateur se dépeint de manière désabusée, décrivant l'image de l’autre, perdue dans ses verres et la mélancolie des morceaux de vieux crooners qui résonnent en fond. Malgré les tentations de l'appeler, il se promet de ne plus laisser ce téléphone sonner et de ne plus se soucier de son état désespéré. Ce récit triste, mais sincère, illustre le cycle de l'addiction et la difficulté de quitter une situation toxique.
