Cette chanson raconte l'histoire de deux navires anglais qui voguent le long de la côte de High Barbary, où ils croisent un pirate. Les marins échangent des messages avec ce dernier, qui se présente comme un pirate en quête de richesses. Alors qu'une bataille s'engage, le bateau de l'un des princes parvient à détruire le mât du vaisseau des pirates. Ces derniers supplient alors pour obtenir une grâce, mais les marins sont déterminés à les faire sombrer. L'histoire évoque bravoure, confrontation et les dangers de la mer, propre à l'univers des chansons de pirates.
