La chanson évoque un personnage qui se considère comme un annonciateur, prédisant un désastre imminent qui menace son village. Malgré ses avertissements, il se heurte au refus d'être écouté, et les gens semblent ne pas mesurer la gravité de la situation. Le protagoniste ressent un fardeau, l’angoisse de porter à la fois la connaissance de l'avenir et la malédiction qui l’accompagne. Alors que le désastre se réalise, il se retrouve seul, blâmé par ceux qu'il essaie de sauver, et il réalise qu’ils ne comprennent pas la peur ou la souffrance qu’il endure.
