La chanson évoque le départ de Guinevere vers une ville minière, en pleine nuit, où son frère Ernie travaille à Pittsburgh. La mère de Guinevere l'aime profondément, tout comme leur père, qui est plongé dans son travail. Cependant, une inquiétude plane sur Guinevere : elle est appelée à ne pas se rendre dans cette ville risquée, car elle sait que son père est exposé à des dangers souterrains, notamment en raison des explosions passées qui hantent la mémoire de la famille. La jeune femme, à peine adulte, doit faire face aux réalités sombres de la vie minière, tout en espérant protéger ce qu’elle aime.
