La chanson parle d'un homme qui se rend compte des conséquences de ses péchés et de sa quête de refuge face à son fardeau. Il se tourne d'abord vers des éléments de la nature, comme le rocher ou la mer, espérant y trouver une protection, mais il découvre que ces refuges ne seront d'aucune aide. Finalement, il se rend compte qu'il devrait se tourner vers Dieu pour implorer miséricorde, mais il regrette aussi de ne pas avoir prié plus tôt. C'est un rappel poignant sur la nécessité de chercher refuge dans la foi plutôt que dans des illusions. Le personnage est confronté à son destin et à la nécessité de se repentir, mettant en lumière la lutte entre le bien et le mal, le péché et la rédemption.
