La chanson évoque un homme qui, la nuit, écoute le bruit d'un train passant près de chez lui. Cette mélodie, mêlée au souvenir de ses jours passés, lui rappelle une vie de vagabondage, tout en étant conscient qu'il ne peut pas revenir en arrière. Il exprime aussi sa gratitude envers Dieu pour le chemin qu’il a pris et pour celle qu'il aime, qui le considère comme un homme de valeur. Il oscille entre la nostalgie d'une vie libre et le bonheur d'être un homme responsable maintenant. Les sons du train symbolisent à la fois un désir de départ et la prise de conscience des conséquences de ces choix.
