La chanson évoque la douleur d'une séparation et la solitude qui en résulte. Le protagoniste décrit une maison qui, malgré sa structure, est devenue un lieu de désespoir et de tristesse, symbolisé par ses sept pièces vides. Chaque coin de cet espace lui rappelle l'absence de l'amour qui illuminait autrefois sa vie. Il exprime son besoin désespéré de retrouver cette tendresse, tout en attendant que son bien-aimé revienne pour transformer à nouveau cette maison froide en un véritable foyer. Ce sentiment de perte est renforcé par l'idée que le temps passe lentement, accentuant son isolement et son chagrin.
