La chanson évoque la lutte d'un homme face à ses peurs et ses déceptions, une existence marquée par des dettes et des erreurs qu'il n'arrive pas à surmonter. Il semble pris dans un cycle de pensées tourmentées, cherchant à trouver un sens à sa vie tout en se heurtant à des visions cauchemardesques de son passé. Chaque rencontre avec ces souvenirs le rapproche d'un jour où tout se sépare, ce qu'il appelle le « jour de la division ». Cette œuvre, sortie au milieu des années 90, s'inscrit dans un contexte où l'auteur aborde des thèmes de désespoir et de mélancolie, résonnant avec une génération qui ressenti une certaine déconnexion et une incapacité à trouver sa place dans le monde. La lune, les ponts et cette idée de fuir témoignent d'une lutte intérieure, tout en cherchant à s'éloigner des problèmes qui l'entourent.
