La chanson évoque un père qui se confie à son fils, Sonny, après une longue période d'absence. Il exprime ses regrets pour ne pas avoir été là et partage ses luttes intérieures. À travers des souvenirs, il révèle ses promesses non tenues et les erreurs du passé qui l'ont conduit à vivre dans l'isolement.
