La chanson raconte l’histoire d'un agriculteur nommé Jody qui, après avoir vu un phénomène inexplicable tomber du ciel près de Moline, perd ses moyens et se met à courir vers la ville en hurlant. La curiosité des habitants attise l'intérêt des scientifiques, des politiciens et même du Vatican, chacun ayant sa propre théorie sur ce qui s'est réellement passé. Cette situation devient rapidement un sujet de débat public, avec Jody qui se retrouve propulsé au rang de héros national, tout en jonglant avec les offres pour ce mystérieux objet. Le contexte de cette chanson se situe dans les années 1970, une époque où l’américanisme et des théories du complot sur la science, la politique et même la spiritualité étaient très présents.
