La chanson raconte l'histoire d'un jeune artisan, fabricant de candélabres, qui tombe sous le charme d'une belle femme qu'il rencontre lors d'une foire. Épris d'elle, il compose un poème pour exprimer son désir de partager des moments intimes à la lumière des bougies. Au fil du temps, leur amour traverse des épreuves, mais il finit par lui offrir un candélabre en cadeau de mariage, sur lequel sont gravés des mots pleins d'affection. Ce candélabre, symbole de leur amour, traverse les âges et reste un témoin des nombreuses mains qui l'ont tenu, évoquant une beauté malgré le passage du temps. Cette histoire parle d'amour, de dévotion et de souvenirs précieux.
