La chanson évoque la vie de Bill, un ami qui vit dans un quartier populaire et qui semble constamment enivré. Il a une façon bien à lui de se détendre en préparant un vin particulier à partir de raisins Mustang, un breuvage qu'il apprécie à tel point qu'il ne peut s'en passer. Au fil des couplets, on découvre leur complicité, notamment lors d'une conversation téléphonique où Bill est invité à partager sa boisson avec l'auteur.
