La chanson aborde une relation complexe où deux personnes semblent conscientes de leur connexion tout en jouant à un jeu de cachotterie. L'un des protagonistes sait ce que l'autre ressent et pense, tout en insistant sur le fait qu'ils parlent en fait à eux-mêmes, reflétant leur propre état d'esprit. L'idée sous-jacente est que, malgré les illusions et les rêves dans lesquels on peut se perdre, la vérité et la présence de l'autre sont toujours là, immuables. On ressent une certaine intimité dans les paroles, comme si les deux individus partagent un secret qui les relie, mais malgré cela, ils continuent à faire semblant d'ignorer leur réalité. C'est un jeu d'apparences où chacun est un peu pris au piège de ses propres pensées, mais au fond, ils savent qu'il n'y a personne d'autre au monde qui compte autant l'un pour l'autre.
