La chanson évoque l'histoire tragique de deux jeunes garçons qui se perdent dans les montagnes alors que leur père s'est éloigné pour chasser. Leur mère, absorbée par ses tâches, ne se rend pas compte qu'ils ont quitté son côté. Au fur et à mesure que la nuit approche, l'angoisse grandit, et de nombreuses personnes s'organisent pour partir à leur recherche. Un père, après avoir rêvé de ses fils perdus rassemblés près d'un tronc, prend finalement la décision de chercher dans une direction suggérée par sa femme. Malgré les efforts de nombreux hommes, c'est finalement Jacob qui retrouve les enfants sans vie, mais la chanson se termine sur une note d'espérance, affirmant qu'ils sont maintenant avec Dieu, attendant de retrouver leurs parents au seuil du paradis.
