La chanson évoque la monotonie de la vie quotidienne d’une personne qui semble vivre dans une routine bien établie, rythmée par des gestes répétitifs. On y décrit les activités habituelles, comme prendre le train, travailler, déjeuner au même endroit et regarder la télévision. Tout semble se dérouler de manière ordinaire, jusqu'à un certain point référencé indirectement par l'arrivée d'une nouvelle personne dans sa vie. Le contexte de cette chanson reflète une introspection sur le vide qui peut exister dans une existence où tout est prévisible, avant l'irruption d'une émotion ou d'une rencontre qui peut radicalement changer la perception de cette routine.
