Cette chanson évoque la vie d'un routier qui doit quitter sa famille pour des longs trajets sur la route. Le père, au volant de son poids lourd, part chaque lundi matin, laissant derrière lui une femme et des enfants inquiets qui attendent des nouvelles. Malgré la distance, il leur téléphone chaque soir pour leur exprimer son amour et les rassurer, leur enseignant même une mélodie à chanter ensemble. Le récit prend une tournure dramatique lorsque, un mercredi, une mère anxieuse attend un appel, seulement pour découvrir que son mari a été impliqué dans un accident. Son cœur est lourd d'inquiétude, mais elle garde espoir et continue de chanter la chanson qui leur est chère. Heureusement, la bonté divine la soutient, et finalement, un appel de son mari lui parvient, lui conférant ainsi un sentiment de soulagement et de joie. C'est une belle illustration de l'affection familiale et de la foi en des jours meilleurs.
